Camping trip to West Lake, Picton, August 15 to 19, 2011

We used to go camping at Salmon Point on Lake Ontario but the campground closed a few years ago. From a camp site there, you could hop on the water and windsurf, and keep your sails all rigged. So, this  year we were looking for another place where we could camp and windsurf. We found the Hideaway Trailer Park and Campground on West Lake (north end of the lake). From our site, the launch was a bit tricky as we had to walk through some tall grass at the water's edge but once out, it was fine. I sailed three days in a row, two with high winds and one light wind day. On the light wind day, Dave also sailed and we went upwind together a long way then came back on a run. It was a gorgeous day. During the week, we also drove around to see some sights including a cemetery in Picton, where Dave's aunt and uncle are buried, Point Petrie, Salmon Point Road, and around the county.

Here are some of my favorite pictures of the week.

Sailing our Mutineer 15 on September 11, 2011

Dave and I have this little sailboat, a Mutineer 15, that we named Mellow Yellow. It was made by Chrysler in 1973 and was originally yellow but now is more white. Hence Mellow Yellow. This year we sailed it only three times so far. Yesterday I took my camera and tried filming us sailing. Here's the result.

And here are a couple of pictures of the boat.
